Optoma Projector Delivers Bright, Visual Displays to Worship Community

Optoma projector enhances worship experience at Valley View Community Church with the ZH606TST 1080p, professional installation, short throw laser projector.
Challenge:
Located in Calgary, Alberta Valley View Community Church was looking to enhance their worship experiences by installing a projector and screen at the altar, onto which visual content could be displayed during the church’s services. The church needed a high-lumen laser projector to effectively project bright and clear images and videos from a few feet away, even with the building’s ambient light created by its windows. The church’s pastor, Reverend Grant Gunnink, turned to David Grainger, general manager at abcan Audio Visual Inc., for guidance in identifying the best model for this installation.
Given the slope of the church’s ceiling, the ceiling’s beams had been placed at various angles, posing a challenge on the projector installation. Given these constraints, the team needed to determine the right method and setup to install the projector from the ceiling in a practical and secure way.
Solution:
Working with Optoma, abcan Audio Visual recommended the ZH606TST short throw laser projector for Valley View’s installation, which delivers 6,000 ANSI lumens of brightness and 1080p resolution to address the church’s need for bright and clear content that could be projected a few feet away from the screen. Additionally, Optoma recommended the ZH606TST because it can display 100-inch images in just a few feet away from the projection screen, which was ideal for the church’s constrained space.
To navigate the church’s complex ceiling design, Rev. Gunnink suggested developing a custom triangular truss that could hang from the ceiling’s sloped beams.
Once the truss was designed, it was anchored to the ceiling beams in such a way that parishioners could view the screen at the front of the church from any seating point, while also having a clear view of the cross.
Results
“I’m initially pleased with the way the picture looks and the ease with which we were able to install it and get it connected with our current AV computer,” stated Rev. Gunnink. “I hope that it will give us years of problem-free operations.”
