Christie bridges “The Space Between” with dazzling showcase that delivers a highly interactive experience for audience engagement

INFOCOMM CHINA/BEIJING - (April 13, 2017) - The multi-award-winning Christie® Boxer 4K30 3DLP® projectors and Christie Pandoras Box media and show control servers are playing a crucial role in delivering eye-catching media contents in the Christie booth #EB1-01 at InfoComm China 2017, April 12-14.

Known as “The Space Between,” the spectacular showcase demonstrates the flawless integration of Christie’s acclaimed projection technologies with advanced image processing systems to deliver an unforgettable visual experience. Executed on a 10-meter wide screen in Zone 1 of the booth, the bright, colorful and interactive visuals were made possible using six Christie Boxer 4K30s combined with the Pandoras Box Version 6.0 media and show control server, Pandoras Box ManagerWidget Designer and AirScan IR-Laser Multi-Touch Sensor. For enhanced interactivity, visitors can also experience Augmented Reality (AR) on their mobile phones when they scan the onscreen contents using a specially developed app.

Another showcase is the Interactive Walkway - which comprises an overhead deployment of three Christie Roadster HD20K-J 3DLP projectors in a captivating demonstration of interactive floor projections using specially-designed real-time tracking ID-tags controlled by the Christie Pandoras Box media server. Visitors holding the ID-tags can experience interactive projections that track their movements as they move along the walkway.

“This highly innovative and visually-arresting display is not merely aimed at generating the wow factor; it is a practical demonstration that Christie has the right tools and know-how to combine our various technologies to offer a unique, memorable and interactive experience,” said Jason Pei, Deputy General Manager, Christie China. “The powerful Boxer 4K30 and Roadster HD20K-J projectors, combined with the versatility of our Pandoras Box system, are great choices for large-scale panoramic projections, interactive digital signage projects and fixed installations. Together with AR capabilities that visitors can activate using a mobile phone app, we have brought direct content engagement and interaction to a new level by revolutionizing communication and our relationship with technology.”

Besides projection systems, Christie has a comprehensive range of image processing and media servers, including hardware- and software-based options that empower users to create amazing visual experiences. When it comes to content and show control, the award-winning Christie Pandoras Box media servers are a cost-effective turnkey solution that perfectly unites state-of-the-art rendering technology with intuitive media and show control. It allows for projection onto any shape and any surface, making it the ideal choice for any live event, projection mapping or multi-media show.

Among the many improvements of Pandoras Box Version 6.0 are editable meshes and warps, UV map adjustments and live canvas masking. There are also major new features such as multi-user mode that allows operators to share the work-load of a project to complete different tasks like warping, encoding and timeline programming simultaneously.

Widget Designer has also been redesigned with an HTML5 user interface and native HTML support, including CSS styles, so animation and transitions are now available for all pages and widgets. The Christie Pandoras Box 6.0 and Widget Designer 6.0, which won the Technology for Entertainment and Live Video award presented by InAVation magazine in February, allow show managers and integrators to build fully customizable control interfaces with flexibility no other system on the market offers.

This is the second consecutive year that Christie is showcasing a “tool-kit” of systems for AV and systems integrators to support large-audience presentations. During InfoComm China 2016, an impressive large-scale projection mapping installation was executed on a 12-meter wide screen shaped like a wristwatch. This was made possible using two Christie Pandoras Box Quad Servers connected to five Christie Boxer 4K30 projectors, which delivered content in 4K resolution.
