First business-quality 720p30 webcam now shipping

NEW YORK and OSLO, Norway (Sept. 1, 2009) - TANDBERG today announced its PrecisionHD USB Camera is generally available for purchase through TANDBERG channel partners. The PrecisionHD USB Camera is optimized for TANDBERG Movi and Microsoft Office Communicator R2 and is the first webcam to offer 720p high definition with 30 frames per second for business-quality video communications.

"The PrecisionHD USB Camera is the first and only high-definition camera designed to provide the optimal experience for mobile and PC video communications in a business environment," said Fredrik Halvorsen, TANDBERG CEO. "When used with TANDBERG Movi or Microsoft OCS 2007 R2, it enables users to see each other in the best possible quality whether calling into a video conference or telepresence meeting. This superior performance is crucial for video solutions to be embraced by the business community."

The PrecisionHD USB Camera is engineered for business use and is constructed with the highest quality materials. There are no additional drivers or software installations needed to operate the camera. Users simply plug it into a USB port and can utilize their PC video software for instant access to other video participants. Moreover, when communicating with non-HD users, the PrecisionHD USB Camera supports a wide range of standard definition resolutions that ensures the best possible experience for all participants.

"Over the past year, we have evaluated many, many webcams and nothing comes close to the video quality of the PrecisionHD USB Camera. It is very easy to install and use. There's no special set up, you just plug it in and it works! However, the most impressive part of this camera is the superior video quality; it is superb," said Lydia Runnels, Vice President of Product Development for CSDVRS, LLC, which provides sign language interpreting and video relay services to deaf and hard of hearing adults in the U.S. "The camera has great potential for our deaf and hard of hearing customers as well as our video interpreters, since the handling of hand motions, facial expressions, and sharpness are of utmost importance when interpreting sign language."
