Top Ways Digital Whiteboarding Can Make Your Team More Productive

April 14, 2023 - At Enterprise Connect 2023 I was part of a panel discussion entitled, “Visual Collaboration: Should everyone be whiteboarding?” Naturally, as the Head of Marketing at DTEN I believe that everyone should take advantage of the digital whiteboard experience offered by DTEN’s superior touch technology delivered on our hardware devices. But in taking a step back there are some considerations to answering the broader question.

Digital whiteboarding is a method of collaborating and visualizing ideas in a digital format. It involves using software applications and hardware devices to create a digital canvas on which individuals or groups can draw, write, type and add multimedia elements such as images, videos and links.

In today’s fast-paced and interconnected world, teams are often spread across multiple locations, and remote work has become increasingly common. As a result, effective communication and collaboration are more critical than ever. Digital whiteboards, like those offered by Zoom, Miro, MURAL and Microsoft Teams, have emerged as a highly effective way to boost productivity and facilitate collaboration, regardless of location. Here are some key reasons why people should use digital whiteboards for productivity:

Enhanced Collaboration:

Digital whiteboards enable teams to collaborate in real-time, even if they are not physically in the same location. This can help facilitate communication and teamwork, leading to more efficient and effective project outcomes. Teams can use digital whiteboards to share ideas and feedback, brainstorm solutions, and work together on projects, all in real-time.

Greater Flexibility:

Digital whiteboards allow teams to work on projects at any time and from any location, as long as they have access to the internet. This can help facilitate greater flexibility and work-life balance, which can in turn increase job satisfaction and productivity. Whether you are working from home, a coffee shop, or on the go, digital whiteboards make it easy to stay connected and productive.

Better Organization:

Digital whiteboards can help teams keep track of their ideas, notes, and action items in one centralized location. This can help facilitate better organization and project management, leading to more efficient and effective workflows. Teams can use digital whiteboards to track project progress, assign tasks, and keep everyone on the same page.

Increased Creativity:

Digital whiteboards can help teams unleash their creativity by providing a platform for brainstorming, mind-mapping, and ideation. Teams can use a variety of tools and features to visualize their ideas and collaborate on solutions, which can lead to more innovative and effective outcomes. With a digital whiteboard, the possibilities for creativity are virtually limitless.

The main challenge to fostering a culture of collaboration in your organization to include digital whiteboarding is user adoption. Getting people into the flow of using the technology to collaborate is key and doing that means the experience needs to be intuitive and easy to use  with natural feeling tools that mimic the classic whiteboard experience. Adoption also incudes the value of asynchronous work and the ability to pull the whiteboard session back into future meetings.

In the end, digital whiteboards can be a highly effective tool for boosting productivity, facilitating collaboration, increasing creativity, and improving organization. Whether you are working remotely or in-person, using digital whiteboards can help you and your team work more efficiently and effectively. So, if you’re looking for a way to increase productivity and enhance collaboration, consider using a digital whiteboard on a DTEN device.
