Mercury Systems Turns to Earthworks for Teleconferencing Solution

Massachusetts-based Audio Visual Integrator Pro AV Systems Selects Earthworks IMBL30-B for Premium Audio Video Conferencing Installation

Milford, NH – When Mercury Systems was looking to install microphones for video and audio teleconferencing at their new Andover, MA facility, they turned to Pro AV Systems to design and install the system.

At the new facility, Pro AV Systems was tasked with designing a system for video and audio teleconferencing in the company’s boardroom, as well as three additional conference rooms.

Ben Slattery, Director of Sales at Pro AV Systems, selected the Earthworks IMBL30-B boundary microphone for the installation. “The team to Mercury wanted Pro AV to design systems that were aesthetically pleasing as well as easy to use. One complaint when coming from the previous location was the clarity of audio to the far end using a competitor’s ceiling microphone installed by the previous contractor.”

Two major factors led to Slattery specifying the Earthworks IMBL30-B—audio quality and an aesthetically pleasing design. “Our goal as an integrator is to provide our customers with a system that looks appealing as well as serving a purpose. The purpose in this case was 100% clarity to the far end. The system needed to sound good and Earthworks got us there.”

Slattery selected the IMBL Series microphones, which feature the LumiComm touch ring, allowing them to program the microphones with a separate control system. “The system is entirely Crestron controlled and the LED indicators are a clear way of showing whether the microphones are in a muted or unmuted state.  The rooms are also utilizing Polycom Group Series codecs and Biamp DSPs. Mercury has a robust Polycom backend that leverages their Skype for Business platform for video and audio conferencing.”

“When specifying this project, Mercury really pushed us to come up with a solution that not only made sense financially but also served a purpose,” explains Slattery. “They wanted high end audio quality and people on the far end to have just as good of an experience as the users in the room. Earthworks microphones provided just that, impeccable quality and aesthetics that fit within confines of the architecture.”

Slattery offered his final thoughts on the “So far, our experience with Earthworks has been nothing short of spectacular. Our customers rave about the sound quality and the people on the far end feel the same. Earthworks microphones are the most natural sounding microphones we have encountered after testing countless competitors.”
