The SRT Open Source Project, the fastest growing open source video streaming movement, continues in its mission to make SRT the de facto standard for low latency video streaming
Montreal, Canada – March 22, 2018 – The SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) Open Source Project, dedicated to overcoming the challenges of low latency video streaming, announces that 30 new members have joined the initiative, including Sencore (a leader in digital video and audio delivery, transport and monitoring equipment for professional broadcast), bringing the total number of SRT Alliance members to 100.
The SRT Alliance’s rapid growth is a compelling indicator that SRT Open Source is gaining wide adoption and is well on its way to becoming a de facto standard for low latency, secure, reliable streaming over the internet, a natural alternative to RTMP and proprietary broadcast solutions. Some of the most recent new members, leaders in the broadcast and streaming community, include: AppearTV, AVIWEST, Encompass, Lumens, Sencore, and StreamGuys. A complete list of companies who have joined the SRT Open Source initiative can be found on srtalliance.org.
“Sencore has over 60 years of experience in the broadcast industry as a trusted engineering partner for quality video delivery,” said Tyler DeNeui, director of business development at Sencore. “Based on that heritage, Sencore only partners with the ‘best in the industry’ when it comes to deploying new technologies. We’re more than excited to be part of such a great group of industry experts and can’t wait to develop alongside other SRT Alliance partners.”
“What’s even more impressive than the 100 partners that have joined the SRT Alliance is the number of SRT Ready solutions in the marketplace that are growing by the day. We fully expect a new set of SRT solutions from the broadcast and streaming community to launch at the NAB conference,” says Sylvio Jelovcich, vice president of global alliances at Haivision.
With the growth of the SRT Open Source Project, the SRT Alliance ecosystem now includes a number of leading companies including 43 video system manufacturers and developers, 31 streaming and software service providers, 16 broadcast service providers, 15 system integrators, 8 content delivery networks (CDN), and 4 online video platforms (OVP).
Haivision, an SRT Alliance founder and the original developer of the SRT technology, is hosting a free SRT Panel Discussion at NAB 2018 featuring speakers from Microsoft, NFL and other industry leaders on April 10 at 2:00 p.m. To attend this free event, register here.
